Splendidly bare boned metalpunk whup-ass from a Glasgow (sic) trio of deadenders who freely raid Zodiac Mindwarp's stash of biker sleaze riffs and drowns them in a wash of back alley scuzz.
Four songs here, eery one of them either a lewd come-on or an invitation to a fist fight.
The Deadly Romantics ain't a band to fuck with.

Gruff, attitude driven vocals like those found on The Deadly Romantics debut EP are what make sleaze rock so great. They are the dirty sounds of the underground, spewing anger through their sonic attack. Scotland's The Deadly Romantics have captured that anti-establishment attitude that made bands like Circus Of Power cult heroes.
The title track, and by far the best of the four songs, is overflowing with disdain and some great lyrics such as; "I got 24 hours in your shitty little town, I don't have time to sit and fuck around." You quickly get the feeling that these guys would get as much pleasure from 'curb stomping' their fans as they would from playing music for them.
The remaining three songs don't reach the lofty heights of the first track, but the band shows great promise as the bad attitude never wavers. If punk rockers are so pissed off with the establishment and the world, why don't they sound as angry as The Deadly Romantics? This band pulls no punches as they crap all over Emos, Indies, New York and women in general. I'm sure some of these lyrics will offend, but isn't that the entire point?
"Fortune and fame are gonna pass me by, but I got one night to give you and it's gonna fly" sums up the ethos of many sleaze rock bands. Bands that are too offensive for the mainstream, so instead they find their niche playing for a small group of rabid fans. The Deadly Romantics are one of those bands...Zodiac Mindwarp (who is thanked in the liner notes) would be proud!

As earnest as anything that came out of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, this perfectly embodies the anger and primal energy of punk whilst marrying it to a more straight ahead rock approach. Endearingly basic in its approach, the production is spot on for this type of music, keeping the sound suitably primal and perfectly in keeping with the overall tone of the songs. They've got a vocalist who can't exactly sing but can growl lyrics in a clear manner so you can hear every word and that's a blessing because opener "Do You Wanna Rock'n'Roll" has lyrics that are worth listening to, but... they're all on the inner sleeve if there's something that you didn't quite catch!

"The Deadly Romantics" aus Glasgow/Schottland melden sich mit einer neuen EP zurück und bringen wüste und auch sleazige Rock n' Roll Hymnen unters Volk. Die Band wurde im Jahre 2006 gegründet und spielten in vielen Kneipen in Schottland. Der grösste Erfolg der Jungs war einen Gig im Vorprogramm von „Zodiac Mindwarp" zu spielen.
Do you wanna Rock and Roll" heisst ihre brand neue EP und darauf befinden sich vier Songs die sie selber produziert haben und einigermassen passen was die Sound Qualität betrifft. Der Stil der „Deadly Romantics" ist eine Art Glam Rock vermischt mit dreckigem Punk. Sänger „Thunder" und seine Jungs rocken sich durch die vier Songs als gebe es kein Morgen, Titel wie „Fucked by Rock n' Roll" oder „New York City" schleudern einem fetzigen Stoff um die Ohren wie er dreckiger nicht sein könnte. Was das Songwriting betrifft gibt es hier aber doch einige Mängel so bleibt eigentlich kein Titel so richtig hängen und man kann davon ausgehen dass die Band auf der Bühne die Sau rauslässt die Tracks wohl auch gut rüber kommen aber nicht auf CD gepresst. Mir gefällt „Do you wanna Rock n' Roll" trotzdem relativ gut, eine Band mit ähnlichem Stil fällt mir momentan nicht wirklich ein aber dreckiger kann man Rock n' Roll kaum spielen, Ecken, Kanten und Rotz Rock, das ist hier die Devise.

Die EP "Do You Wanna Rock And Roll", welche ich euch hier vorstellen möchte, kommt aus Schottland - genauer gesagt aus Glasgow und zwar von der Band THE DEADLY ROMANTICS. Geboren wurde diese Combo 2006 und hat seitdem unzählige Gigs in kleineren Rahmen gegeben. Das bisher erwähnenswerteste Ereignis der Gruppe war wohl der Auftritt im Vorprogramm von Zodiac Mindwarp. Soweit zur Band, jetzt zum Digitalem Datenträger.
Die Qualität des Sounds passt schon irgendwie,wenn hier auch eine große Schwäche besteht - leider wollen die einzelnen Songs nicht wirklich hängen bleiben, obwohl man es bei Songnamen wie "Fucked by Rock and Roll" durchaus meinen möchte.
Hier hätte die Band rund um Sänger Thunder vielleicht etwas abwechslungsreicher zu Werke gehen sollen, denn das Potenzial vorhanden ist kann man eindeutig heraushören. Immerhin kann der gespielte Sound der Schotten, in dem eine ordentliche Portion dreckiger Punk enthalten ist, durchaus Spaß machen, da es instrumental nichts zu meckern gibt. Hier wissen die Jungs genau was sie wollen und können auch überzeugen.
Meiner Meinung nach sind The Deadly Romantics eine recht vielversprechende musikalische Interessengemeinschaft, der man das doch recht junge Alter von 2 Jahren immer noch ein wenig anhört. Allerdings kann ich mir durchaus vorstellen, dass sie in nicht all zu ferner Zukunft wirklich sehr gut werden können.
